The concept of telecasting poker has started some where in the late 70s. The 2010 WSOP or the World Series poker was telecasted live by CBS in United States. In the earlier years, technology was that much advanced as on today so the viewers could not clearly see what cards the players were playing. Rather they just had to rely on the announcement & commentary aired at that time.

Things changed much better during the 2000 & the tournaments watched live on TV has a feel of as if one is watching the game sitting physically in front of them. The viewer ship for watching poker on TV increased much. People considered the poker show more popular than any other reality show like the Big Brother.

To increase the viewer ship, poker online legends discussed with companies to fund a World poker tour organized through television shown live to the entire world. So, by introducing this, one can watch any live tournament happening at any corner of the world. Lots of advance technology & graphics were used to make the game livelier when watching on Television. Looking at the booming popularity of the game, several Companies poured in to sponsor & also advertise their ads during the intervals of the game. People used to get glued to the TV during the time when any tournament was being held.

The television also actively covered all the tournaments conducted by the WPT.Few Channels also show the interviews of the famous poker players before the game, who share their success tips & stories. The World poker tours along with the television do not cover all the tournaments played, instead it highlights on the final day of the poker. During the other days of play, the tour used to highlight is & show on television. The popularity of showing poker on TV grew so much that Europe had launched its poker channels.

Those who play poker at a Casino love to watch the games telecasted. There are several poker transmissions to choose from like the PPT, High Stakes, WPT, and WSOP.

But critics mention that Poker on Television was created to gain revenue just to increase the ratings of channel. Whatever it may be the reasons, but there is no stopping of those thousands of viewers who make sure not to miss their favorite poker tournaments by sitting at home & watching it live on television.
